What is HARRT?
HARRT is a multi-dimensional organization that focuses on educational and safety consulting and community service. HARRT was established in the Spring of 2000 by Kevin Shinn a Huntsville High School teacher and firefighter. HARRT is associated with the American Red Cross Rapid Response Team Project. Since that time, hundreds of high school students have received CPR, AED, and 1st Aid certification as well as nearly 120 members have received First Responder certifications. A dozen members have received their SAR Tech III training and certification, while dozens have been involved in area missing person's searches. Each year since its inception, HARRT members have staffed the American Red Cross Emergency Medical stations at Razorback football games, and nearly two dozen members have been nationally certified as Red Cross Sports Trainers. Additionally, our team has developed and staffed the emergency plan for Huntsville High School and continues to participate in numerous community events.
I am married to Angie Shinn & we have three children. Our oldest is Nikki. & she is a 4th grade teacher in Berryville & is married to Will Tarvin. They have two children, Angela & Kendyl. Our middle child is Adam Wade who works in Russellville & was able to serve with me briefly on the Huntsville Fire Department. Our youngest child is Kristyn Shinn. She graduated from the University of the Ozarks where she played soccer, basketball & was a pre-med major. She is married to Darren Clark & is pursuing her masters in nursing in the fall. Darren works for Arvest and takes care of my baby. This is my 27th year as a teacher at Huntsville High School & my 10th year as the state chairman for the American Red Cross Rapid Response Team Project. I am the head boys’ soccer coach for Huntsville High School & the director of HARRT.
I have been honored to be named three times by the National Soccer Coaches of America Association as the Coach of the Year for small Schools in Arkansas. I was also selected to coach in the state All Star soccer game in 2008.
I am an officer for the Huntsville Fire Department & enjoy the challenge of serving our community.
